Colleyville is a city and suburb of Fort Worth located in northeast Tarrant County, Texas, United States. Emerging from a number of small, rural settlements along the Cotton Belt Route, Colleyville was originally known as Bransford when Dr. Lilburn Howard Colley settled there in 1880. He was a prominent area physician and a veteran of the Union Army. In 1914 when Walter G. Couch opened a grocery store near Dr. Colley's home the community was renamed Colleyville in his honor. The city is mostly served by the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD). The district operates eleven neighborhood-oriented elementary schools (pre-kindergarten through grade 5), four middle schools (grades 6-8) and two high schools (9-12). The city is mostly served by the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (GCISD). The district operates eleven neighborhood-oriented elementary schools (pre-kindergarten through grade 5), four middle schools (grades 6-8) and two high schools (9-12). High school-aged students attend either Colleyville Heritage or Grapevine High School depending on their proximity to either school. Both high schools are well-regarded by various national news outlets, most notably Newsweek magazine. Colleyville Covenant Christian Academy is a private religious school offering classical education from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school is a fully accredited member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS).
